Lahore Qalandars’ Head Coach Reflects on Loss to Multan Sultans

After suffering a significant defeat against Multan Sultans by a margin of 60 runs in Lahore, Lahore Qalandars’ head coach Aaqib Javed addressed the media in a press conference. He acknowledged that Multan Sultans also had limited players, countering the notion that Lahore Qalandars were the only team facing such constraints.

Javed expressed disappointment that Lahore Qalandars couldn’t build momentum, despite the standout performance of individual players like Shaheen Afridi. He highlighted the importance of taking wickets to restrict the opposition but noted that they failed to do so against Multan Sultans.

The head coach revealed that they had considered various strategies, including spin options, but the lack of disciplined bowling hampered their plans. He emphasized the need for balance in the batting order, mentioning that Abdullah Shafique didn’t get the opportunity to bat higher up the order, which they had intended.

Javed remained optimistic, stating that they are awaiting their first victory and will continue to strive for excellence. He stressed the importance of playing positive cricket to keep the fans engaged and hopeful, even in the face of defeats.

Reflecting on the six consecutive losses, Javed highlighted the remarkable aspect of both losing and winning matches, suggesting that a turnaround is always possible. He expressed regret for not being able to maintain balance in the batting order, particularly regarding Abdullah Shafique’s position in the lineup.

Despite the challenges and setbacks faced by Lahore Qalandars, Aaqib Javed’s remarks indicate a determined attitude to rectify their shortcomings and aim for success in the upcoming matches of the tournament.
