Al-Nassr, the club led by Cristiano Ronaldo, has cancelled its two-game China tour after the forward suffered an injury, raising concerns about his participation in the upcoming encounter against Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami.
The Saudi club, Al-Nassr, was originally scheduled to play against Shanghai Shenhua on Jan. 24 and Zhejiang four days later, but both games have now been postponed. Ronaldo expressed regret and apologized to fans for the cancellation, citing a fitness issue.
“We are willing to complete our training camp as planned in Shenzhen, a city that has warmly welcomed us and shown so much love for us and our Captain,” Al-Nassr stated in a released statement. “Furthermore, we have agreed with the organizer to schedule a new match as soon as possible.”
Despite the setback, Ronaldo expressed a desire to push for the rescheduled game and emphasized that injuries are part of football and his life.
The 38-year-old forward, who recently received three prizes at the Globe Soccer Awards in Dubai, was absent from Al-Nassr’s training at the beginning of the week, as reported by local media.
Following the cancellation of the China tour, Al-Nassr is set to face Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami in a friendly tournament in Riyadh on Feb. 1. The tournament will also feature a match against Neymar’s Al-Hilal, the current leaders of the Saudi Pro League.
