In a significant development, Ismail Haniyeh, the head of Hamas, has asserted that Gaza might halt hostilities if Pakistan issues a warning to Israel, emphasizing the crucial role Pakistan plays in supporting their cause. Echoing Haniyeh’s sentiments, Maulana Fazlur Rehman, the chief of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F), warned that any attempt to recognize Israel could spark public outrage, implying that the people would revolt against such a decision. Prominent religious scholar Mufti Taqi Usmani stated that a diplomatic resolution for Palestine is unacceptable, and the Muslim world cannot compromise on the sanctity of Al-Quds (Jerusalem).
Sarajul Haq, the chief of Jamaat-e-Islami, criticized Muslim rulers for their silence on the atrocities against Palestinians, accusing them of being complicit in the oppression. Ovais Noorani reiterated his commitment to jihad in Palestine, declaring readiness to support the cause. Meanwhile, Senator Sajid Mir called for Pakistan to follow in the footsteps of Bhutto’s era and dispatch its aircraft for the defense of Gaza.
Addressing the Al-Quds Conference on December 8, Ismail Haniyeh asserted that Jews are the most significant enemies of Muslims worldwide, commending Pakistan as a robust nation. He stated that if Pakistan issues a warning to Israel, the ongoing conflict could potentially cease. Haniyeh conveyed that Gazans are currently targeting Israel with their latest weaponry, expressing optimism about the success of their efforts.
In response to Haniyeh’s remarks, Maulana Fazlur Rehman condemned Israel and stressed the need for solidarity with Palestine. He declared that the establishment of Israel is illegitimate, and Pakistan has thwarted Israel’s agenda on its soil. December 8 will be observed as a day of solidarity with Al-Quds throughout the country.
The leaders collectively emphasized the need for a strong stance against Israel’s unjust actions and called for an immediate end to the oppression faced by the Palestinian people.
