The Bombay High Court has dismissed a petition filed by Faiz Anwar Qureshi, in which he demanded that the Indian government impose restrictions on any professional engagement between Pakistani artists and the entertainment industry in India.
According to reports in the Indian media, the petition aimed to prevent any form of professional association between Pakistani artists and the Indian entertainment sector. However, a division bench comprising Justice Sunil Shukre and Justice Firdaus Ponani, representing the Bombay High Court, clearly rejected the request.
The court emphasized that the request for restrictions on Pakistani artists is not in line with the promotion of cultural harmony and peace, which stands in contrast to any legal justification. They noted that love for one’s homeland should not translate into enmity with others. A person with a good heart always welcomes activities that promote peace and harmony, both within the country and beyond its borders.
The court’s stance implies that the request for restricting Pakistani artists is not conducive to advancing cultural unity and peace, and it lacks any legal basis.
