Following her recent wedding to businessman Salim Karim, Pakistani actress Mahira Khan delighted her followers by sharing precious moments from her mayun ceremony. In a heartfelt post, she expressed gratitude to the most supportive women in her life.
Videos posted on social media provided a glimpse of the intimate wedding ceremony, which is believed to have taken place on a Sunday. Mahira Khan looked stunning and elegant as the bride.
In her latest Instagram post, Khan shared highlights from her mayun, which was organized by her “childhood girlfriends.” She also paid a touching tribute to her mother and friends.
She began by recounting her mother’s heartfelt wish to commence the wedding festivities with a dua (prayer). Despite being in a wheelchair, her mother managed various aspects of the decoration, table arrangement, and furniture setup, ensuring that everything was ready on time. Mahira expressed deep appreciation for her mother’s dedication to making her wedding day special, saying, “Alhumdulillah for our parents.”
Mahira Khan then shared that her childhood friends had organized a mayun ceremony for her ahead of the big day. The mayun is a traditional gathering where the bride’s family celebrates her through various rituals, including applying henna on her hands, singing songs, and sharing sweets.
She expressed her gratitude for having friends who she considers sisters, writing, “Alhumdulillah for friends I can call my sisters.”
In a touching gesture, Mahira mentioned that she took a bud of motia (jasmine) flower from her garland and hung it in her earring (“baali”) in honor of her late grandmothers, saying, “P.S. I took a bud of the motia and put it in my baali before going down… for my Nani and Dadi.”
