ZURICH: FIFA has announced Lenovo as the official technology partner for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, set to be hosted across the United States, Canada, and Mexico. The partnership marks a major step in merging advanced technology with the world’s biggest sporting event.
Under the agreement, Lenovo will oversee all hardware and technology operations for the tournament. This includes supplying ThinkPad laptops, Motorola devices, servers, storage systems, and AI-powered data center solutions. The company will also manage critical tech infrastructure at all venues — covering broadcasting, media centers, VAR (Video Assistant Referee) systems, and real-time match data management.
With the 2026 World Cup spanning three nations, 16 cities, and an expanded 104-match schedule, the scale of operations will be unprecedented. FIFA selected Lenovo for its reputation in reliable, enterprise-grade technology and ability to ensure smooth coordination across massive international events.
Beyond infrastructure, Lenovo will introduce AI-driven innovations aimed at enhancing both the fan experience and team performance. These include:
- Real-time statistical insights and interactive data displays for spectators,
- Intelligent logistics management to streamline stadium operations, and
- Specialized tablets offering live tactical and player performance data to coaches for in-game decision-making.
The tournament, scheduled to kick off on June 11, 2026, promises to be the most technologically advanced World Cup in history. Ahead of the event, FIFA and Lenovo will unveil further details about their AI and data integration plans at the Lenovo Tech World conference in Las Vegas in January 2026.
