Apple is reportedly preparing to launch its upgraded Siri voice assistant around March next year, alongside a new smart home display that will feature both speaker and wall-mount options. The company also plans to release a new Apple TV and HomePod mini, both of which will showcase the next-generation Siri and Apple Intelligence capabilities.
According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman in his latest Power On newsletter, the redesigned Siri will integrate advanced AI technology inspired by Google’s Gemini model, including an AI-driven web search function. Gurman revealed that Apple is paying Google to develop a custom Gemini-based model that operates on Apple’s secure Private Cloud Compute servers. However, he clarified that Siri won’t directly use Google services or Gemini features — instead, the model will run in the background to enhance Siri’s capabilities within Apple’s ecosystem.
Gurman cautioned that Apple still faces an uphill battle to restore Siri’s reputation, saying, “There’s no guarantee users will accept it, that it will function smoothly, or that it can repair years of damage to the Siri brand.”
Apple is also set to preview iOS 27, macOS 27, watchOS 27, and other platforms at its Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) in June. These updates are expected to place a heavy emphasis on Apple Intelligence and the company’s broader AI integration strategy.
Meanwhile, the rollout of Apple Intelligence in China continues to face regulatory challenges. Despite ongoing partnerships with Chinese tech firms, Gurman described the situation as a “rolling target,” suggesting ongoing delays and uncertainty over when the service will officially launch in the country.
