Meta, in partnership with the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) and educational platform EYEYAH!, has launched a nationwide awareness campaign titled “Is This Legit?” to educate users about online scams and promote safer digital practices.
Part of a broader Asia-Pacific initiative spanning over 15 countries, the campaign introduces an interactive and gamified online experience that highlights seven common types of scams — romance, shopping, impersonation, investment, job, account hacking, and messaging scams. Through engaging digital content, users learn how to recognize warning signs and protect themselves from fraudulent activities.
PTA Chairman Major General (R) Hafeez Ur Rehman praised the collaboration, underscoring PTA’s commitment to creating a secure and informed digital environment in Pakistan. He described the initiative as a continuation of PTA and Meta’s joint efforts to strengthen digital literacy and safeguard users from online threats.
Dania Mukhtar, Head of Public Policy for Pakistan at Meta, reaffirmed Meta’s dedication to user safety, noting that the company continues to remove scammers from its platforms. “Scammers are constantly evolving their tactics, targeting multiple apps and platforms simultaneously. Awareness and education are essential to help users stay vigilant,” she said.
“Through this campaign, we aim to help people in Pakistan recognize scam red flags in an engaging way, empowering them to stay safe online,” she added, while commending PTA for amplifying the initiative and supporting community empowerment.
Meta and PTA remain committed to enhancing digital literacy, protecting users from scams, and fostering a secure, trustworthy online ecosystem across Pakistan.
