In response, Javed confirmed that the Karachi Commissioner is in contact with dairy farmers, and a committee with representatives from various departments has been formed to find a resolution through dialogue.

She also noted that the Sindh Food Authority recently seized 127 litres of milk, of which 71 litres wer, while several shops were sealed and fined—most violations originating from Karachi’s Lea Market.

Earlier, the DFA had threatened to raise prices unilaterally from October 11, after a meeting at the Commissioner’s House in Karachi failed to reach an agreement between farmers, wholesalers, and retailers over a new price notification.
