Pakistan’s foreign reserves inch Up; SBP issues Rs 75 commemorative coin.

Pakistan’s total liquid foreign exchange reserves rose slightly by $1.1 million, reaching $19,496.7 million as of August 08, 2025, according to the State Bank of Pakistan’s (SBP) weekly report.

The data showed that SBP-held reserves increased by $11 million to $14,243.2 million during the week under review, while reserves maintained by commercial banks declined by $10 million to $5,253.5 million.

A week earlier, on August 01, 2025, the country’s reserves had stood at $19,495.6 million, with the SBP holding $14,231.9 million and commercial banks $5,263.7 million.

Separately, the SBP has introduced a special Rs 75 commemorative coin to mark the Marka-e-Haq (Battle of Truth) and to honor the bravery of Pakistan’s armed forces, coinciding with Independence Day celebrations.

Approved by the federal government, the coin weighs 13.5 grams, measures 30 millimeters in diameter, and is composed of 79% copper, 20% zinc, and 1% nickel.

The obverse features a rising crescent with a five-pointed star facing northwest, surrounded by the words “Islamic Republic of Pakistan” in Urdu. The year “2025” is inscribed below, along with wheat sprigs and the denomination “75 Rupees” in Urdu.

The reverse side bears the inscription “Battle of Truth” in Urdu and “2025” in numerals, with “Pakistan Zindabad” engraved along the top edge. It also displays embossed depictions of fighter jets, a naval ship, and a multiple rocket launcher system, representing the armed forces.

The commemorative coin will be available to the public from August 15, 2025, at SBP Banking Services Corporation field offices nationwide.
