Shahid Khaqan Abbasi slams State of governance, calls for rule of law and justice.

Former Prime Minister and Awam Pakistan Party leader Shahid Khaqan Abbasi has issued a scathing critique of the country’s governance, declaring that Pakistan is facing a complete breakdown of law, justice, and judicial functioning.

Addressing the All Parties Conference in Islamabad on Friday, Abbasi accused the government of denying citizens their fundamental rights. “Why are our youth turning to violence?” he asked, drawing attention to the deteriorating conditions in Balochistan and the former FATA regions.

He lamented that even the funds previously allocated to the merged districts are now being withheld. “There is no rule of law, no justice, no accountability — people act with impunity,” he said.

Highlighting political repression, Abbasi noted that members of a particular political party are facing harsh sentences ranging from 10 to 20 years, while secret trials and closed-door verdicts have become disturbingly routine.

“No one seems concerned about the country’s future,” he remarked. “Only the constitution and the rule of law can bring us out of this crisis — there’s no other solution. We must eradicate institutional injustice.”

Abbasi also warned of deepening economic inequality, stating, “The poor are getting poorer while the elite continue to amass wealth. Every time sugar exports begin, prices skyrocket — and the farmer gets nothing.”
