Gunman kills 3, injures 2 in reno casino shooting before being shot by police.

A tragic shooting occurred Monday morning outside the Grand Sierra Resort in Reno, Nevada, where a gunman opened fire near the casino’s valet station, killing three people and critically injuring two others. The attacker was eventually shot and seriously wounded by responding police officers.

According to law enforcement, the incident began just before 7:30 a.m. local time in the parking lot of the high-rise casino and hotel complex. The unidentified shooter, described only as an adult male, appeared to have targeted his victims randomly.

“We have no reason to believe there is a connection between any of the victims and the suspect, and we have no known motive,” said Sparks Police Chief Chris Crawforth. The Sparks Police Department is leading the investigation in coordination with Reno authorities.

Crawforth detailed that the suspect was seen approaching the valet area, where he pointed a handgun at a group of people. Although the weapon initially jammed, he managed to fire multiple shots, striking five individuals. As he retreated through the parking lot, he exchanged gunfire with a casino security guard before shooting a sixth victim who was driving nearby.

Police arrived quickly and engaged the shooter, wounding him and ending the rampage.

Among the six shot, two valet-area victims and the passing motorist died at the scene. Two others remain hospitalized in critical condition, while the suspect is also in critical condition. One Reno police officer sustained a minor injury from glass fragments during the confrontation, according to Reno Police Chief Kathryn Nance.

Authorities continue to investigate the motive behind the attack.
