Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar arrived in New York on Monday for an official visit scheduled from July 21 to 28, 2025. He was warmly received upon arrival by Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Asim Iftikhar, and Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United States.
During his visit, Senator Dar will lead several key engagements at the United Nations as part of Pakistan’s signature events at the Security Council. He will chair a high-level Open Debate on the theme “Promoting International Peace and Security through Multilateralism and the Peaceful Settlement of Disputes,” aimed at strengthening global diplomacy, mediation, and multilateral cooperation.
He will also preside over the Security Council’s Quarterly Open Debate on the Situation in the Middle East, including the Palestinian Question, emphasizing Pakistan’s strong stance on regional peace and justice.
Additionally, Senator Dar will chair a high-level UN briefing focused on deepening cooperation between the United Nations and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), reflecting Pakistan’s efforts to enhance joint initiatives for global peace and stability.
Reaffirming Pakistan’s steadfast support for the Palestinian cause, the Deputy Prime Minister will attend a high-level Conference on “Peaceful Settlement of the Question of Palestine and the Implementation of the Two-State Solution.” His participation underscores Pakistan’s commitment to the right of self-determination for the Palestinian people.
Beyond UN forums, Dar is expected to hold several bilateral meetings with foreign ministers and senior UN officials, further strengthening Pakistan’s diplomatic outreach.
His visit to New York and Washington reflects Pakistan’s increasing engagement in multilateral diplomacy and the deepening of strategic ties with the United States. Pakistan’s prominent participation in UN Security Council debates and international conferences stands as a testament to its dedication to global peace and its unyielding support for the Palestinian cause.
