Fazlur Rehman responded to Bilawal Bhutto’s political satire

Maulana Fazlur Rehman, the head of the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI), has responded to the political taunts of Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, the Chairman of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP). During a discussion on Geo News’ program “Capital Talk,” Maulana Fazlur Rehman stated that they are not running away from elections and are prepared for elections in 90 days.

In an interview with senior journalist Hamid Mir, Maulana Fazlur Rehman made it clear that President Arif Alvi does not have the constitutional authority to dictate the election date. He asserted that if the President were to set the election date, it would be a breach of protocol.

Maulana Fazlur Rehman also criticized former Defense Minister Pervez Khattak and former Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mahmood Khan, casting doubts on their credibility.

Furthermore, he dismissed the possibility of an electoral alliance with the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) in Sindh. Maulana Fazlur Rehman made it explicit that such alliances were not on the table.

He suggested that there could be potential alliances with the Grand Democratic Alliance (GDA) in Sindh, the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), and the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N). He clarified that there were already ongoing discussions and contacts with these parties.

Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s remarks underscore the political dynamics in Pakistan as various parties position themselves for the upcoming elections. His rejection of any alliance with the PTI in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the PPP in Sindh indicates a clear direction for his party’s electoral strategy.

Moreover, his comments regarding the authority to set the election date highlight the importance of adhering to constitutional processes and separation of powers within the Pakistani political system.

the response from Maulana Fazlur Rehman reflects his party’s readiness for the electoral contest and the ongoing negotiations and maneuvering within Pakistan’s political landscape as parties gear up for the elections. The political scenario in the lead-up to the elections is expected to remain dynamic and fluid.
