In the Chilas region of Chitral, near the Afghan border, a group of terrorists carried out an attack on military posts, resulting in the deaths of 12 terrorists and several injuries. However, the attack also claimed the lives of 4 soldiers. According to the initial reports, the terrorists used new weaponry to target two military posts in Chilas. These posts were already under threat, and security personnel had been on high alert. The brave security forces engaged in a fierce firefight with the terrorists, resulting in the elimination of 12 terrorists, while a significant number of terrorists were injured.
The ISPR (Inter-Services Public Relations) confirmed that the responsibility for the attacks on military posts had been claimed by the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). The statement also revealed that the security forces had been conducting operations to eliminate terrorist threats in the Gilgit-Baltistan region, particularly in areas like Gwardesh, Pitagol, Bargh Mittal, and Batash, where the movement and activities of terrorists had been detected earlier. The Afghan transit government had been timely informed about these developments.
During the exchange of fire, four brave soldiers lost their lives, and the military is actively pursuing operations to clear the area of terrorists. The ISPR emphasized the unwavering commitment of Pakistan’s armed forces to eradicate terrorism and extremism from the region, pledging that the sacrifices of the soldiers would strengthen their resolve.
The statement also highlighted the solidarity of the courageous local population of Chitral, who are standing shoulder to shoulder with the armed forces and are determined not to allow terrorists to disrupt the peace in their region.
It is expected that the Afghan transit government will fulfill its commitments and not allow its territory to be used for terrorist activities against Pakistan. The banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has claimed responsibility for the attacks on military posts. In Quetta, four terrorists were also killed. The CTD (Counter-Terrorism Department) spokesperson mentioned that the attackers were carrying suicide jackets, weapons, and explosives.
