The Registrar of the Supreme Court on Tuesday submitted three names to the parliamentary committee on behalf of the Chief Justice of Pakistan for the selection of the next Chief Justice.
In response to a request from the Law Ministry, the Registrar provided the names of the three senior-most judges for consideration.
According to sources, the names sent are Justice Mansoor Ali Shah, Justice Munib Akhtar, and Justice Yahya Afridi.
The 12-member parliamentary committee, established under the 26th Constitutional Amendment for the appointment of the Chief Justice, is scheduled to meet at 4 p.m. to discuss the candidates.
