The Privatisation Commission has postponed the bidding date for the privatization of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) to October 31, 2024. As a result of this extension, the draft agreement will now be signed on October 25, and the deadline for submitting advance payments has been moved to October 28.
The decision to extend the bidding deadline has taken interested companies by surprise. Aviation sources have expressed concerns that this change could negatively impact the privatization process.
The Commission has not provided a clear explanation for the sudden extension, which follows an initial deadline for advance deposits set for September 27, 2024. Despite this delay, preparations for the bidding were reportedly ready for the original deadline of October 1.
