Aleema Khan, sister of PTI founder Imran Khan, emphasized that protest remains the last resort for securing her brother’s release. Speaking to the media outside Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi, she conveyed that Imran Khan had stressed the importance of maintaining the momentum of protests, insisting they should not be halted.
Aleema Khan argued that peaceful demonstrations are the only viable method to prevent Imran Khan’s potential military detention and trial in military court. She pointed out that citizens took to the streets in Rawalpindi to advocate for the supremacy of law and an independent judiciary, but faced significant resistance, including rubber bullets fired at them.
She criticized the current government, noting that despite holding only 17 seats in the federation and 25 in the Punjab assembly, they appear fearful of the PTI. Aleema insisted on continuing protests until Imran Khan is released and judicial independence is restored, stating that both he and his supporters have no other options.
She also revealed that protests are currently being organized in Multan, Faisalabad, Mianwali, and Bahawalpur, framing protest as a constitutional right of citizens. Aleema Khan announced plans for a protest rally at Minar-e-Pakistan on Imran Khan’s birthday, reinforcing the call for ongoing demonstrations.
