Jean smart to host “saturday night live” season 50 premiere, joined by musical guest Jelly roll.

Fresh off her Emmy win, Jean Smart will bring her comedy to a new stage as she hosts the premiere of Saturday Night Live’s 50th season on September 28. NBC announced that the milestone season’s first episode will also feature Jelly Roll as the musical guest, marking both Smart and Jelly Roll’s debut appearances on the show.

Smart expressed her excitement on Instagram, sharing that hosting SNL has been a “bucket list” dream. The lineup for the rest of the season includes several returning hosts and musical guests, with a few notable debuts. Comedian Nate Bargatze, whose portrayal of George Washington was a hit last October, will host again on October 5 with Coldplay, making their eighth appearance as the musical guest.

Ariana Grande will host for the second time on October 12, joined by legendary Fleetwood Mac singer Stevie Nicks. Michael Keaton will take the stage on October 19, with Billie Eilish as the musical guest for the Halloween episode. John Mulaney, a former SNL writer and fan favorite, will return to host his sixth episode on November 2, alongside breakout music star Chappell Roan.

As the highly anticipated 50th season kicks off, fans are eager to see familiar faces and some surprise appearances, with hopes for Maya Rudolph to reprise her role as Kamala Harris and other iconic moments.
