AT&T settles fcc Investigation for $950,000 over 911 outage in four states.

AT&T has agreed to pay $950,000 to settle a Federal Communications Commission (FCC) investigation into a 911 outage that affected four states in August 2023. The outage, which occurred during testing of AT&T’s 911 network, disrupted emergency calls in parts of Illinois, Kansas, Texas, and Wisconsin, leading to over 400 failed 911 calls. As part of the settlement, AT&T will implement a three-year compliance plan to ensure adherence to the FCC’s 911 and outage notification rules.
