PCB chairman emphasizes merit-based selection and unity for success in Pakistani cricket.

In a meeting with Pakistani cricketers during the PSL-9 event in Rawalpindi, PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi asserted that team selection would solely be based on merit, with no room for references or personal choices moving forward.

Addressing the players at a local hotel on Tuesday, Naqvi emphasized the commitment to selecting teams based on performance. He personally greeted and interacted with each cricketer, expressing his concern for the injured fast bowler Haris Rauf and engaging in a conversation with veteran all-rounder Shoaib Malik.

Naqvi emphasized that talented players would not have to wait for selection, and those demonstrating good performance would be recognized as stars. Acknowledging the natural fluctuations in form, he assured that the PCB would support players who excelled in the domestic circuit.

Expressing his confidence in the Pakistan Cricket team’s capability to win major tournaments, Naqvi highlighted the importance of unity. He expressed a desire to eradicate internal politics within the team, envisioning the eleven players as a cohesive unit.

Naqvi stressed that success was inevitable with a united team on the field, adding that defeat, if fought with determination, should be viewed without shame.
