Addressing an election rally in Peshawar, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari squarely held the PML-N and the PTI responsible for the current economic challenges, accusing them of fostering hatred and division by turning political differences into personal enmity. Bilawal asserted that this divisive approach has harmed the nation, its economy, and every Pakistani.
Expressing gratitude for the warm welcome in Peshawar during his whirlwind tour of the four provinces ahead of the Feb 8 elections, Bilawal highlighted that he had already addressed 10 conventions in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
As the polling day approached, Bilawal questioned those advocating for the electoral exercise’s postponement due to weather and security concerns, asserting that PPP leaders faced similar threats but were undeterred due to their loyalty to Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Shaheed Benazir Bhutto.
Acknowledging the country’s pressing issues such as unemployment, inflation, and poverty, Bilawal blamed the PML-N and PTI for the economic challenges, accusing them of engaging in divisive politics. He expressed his commitment to new politics in 2024 and pledged to address the three major challenges: inflation, poverty, and unemployment.
Bilawal outlined his party’s promises, including doubling salaries, regularizing slums, granting ownership rights, providing interest-free loans to women for businesses, and supporting laborers through the “Benazir laborer card.” He emphasized that the PPP did not copy-paste its manifesto, distinguishing itself from other political parties.
Alleging that false cases were brought against Benazir Bhutto and Asif Ali Zardari by the PML-N, Bilawal asserted that his party would bring a paradigm shift by eliminating hate and divisive politics. He positioned the PPP as the true representative of poor Pakistanis, contrasting it with the PML-N, which he claimed represented the aristocracy and elite class.
