Nawaz Sharif, the leader of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), asserted on Wednesday that Pakistan faced crises after his unjust removal as prime minister on false charges. Speaking at a massive public gathering in Nankana Sahib, Sharif questioned the reasons behind his ousting when he had no enmity with anyone, emphasizing that he was not an “imported prime minister.”
Expressing his dismay, Sharif questioned why a prime minister who played a pivotal role in making Pakistan a nuclear power found himself handcuffed, jailed, and convicted. He lamented that he was deposed from the PM’s Office by five judges for not taking a salary from his son.
The former premier expressed deep concern for the plight of the people of Pakistan after his removal, citing distress in areas such as inflation, unemployment, energy shortfall, and terrorism.
Sharif stated that his heart would be at peace only if the people of Pakistan found relief from the prevailing crises. The rally venue echoed with chants of support as Sharif walked up to the stage, appreciating the enthusiasm of party workers and supporters.
Addressing the gathering, Sharif highlighted the progress made during his tenure, including addressing the energy shortfall, restoring peace in Karachi, and providing essential goods at affordable prices. He expressed dismay at the discontinuation of Pakistan’s journey towards progress following his ouster.
Looking ahead to the future, Sharif promised to make Nankana Sahib a model city if elected in the next general elections. He pledged to construct hospitals, a college for boys and girls, build roads, and provide basic facilities in Nankana Sahib, along with the commitment to a state-of-the-art cricket stadium for children.
PML-N leader Maryam Nawaz echoed similar sentiments, urging constituents to support the “tiger,” PML-N’s electoral symbol, in the upcoming elections on Feb 8. She prayed for the success of PML-N in the elections to serve the masses diligently.
