French police have conducted a search at the Finance Ministry’s tax administration offices, investigating allegations of preferential treatment granted to football club Paris-Saint-Germain (PSG) over the transfer of Brazilian star Neymar, according to a source close to the investigation. The raid, reported by news outlet Mediapart, is part of a broader inquiry.
Earlier reports by Mediapart suggested that PSG received suspected favorable tax treatment in connection with Neymar’s high-profile transfer from Barcelona to PSG in 2017.
The Economics and Finance Ministry has chosen not to comment on the ongoing investigation.
As of now, Paris-Saint-Germain has not provided an immediate response to a Reuters request for comment.
