Election Tribunals in Karachi have sought clarifications from the Election Commission, District Returning Officers (ROs), and Assistant Returning Officers (AROs) in response to appeals challenging the decisions of Returning Officers regarding the rejection of nomination papers.

The Election Tribunal, responding to appeals filed by PTI candidate Shah Mahmood Qureshi and his son Zain Qureshi from NA-214, has sought explanations from the Election Commission, AROs, and ROs. This move comes as part of the ongoing legal proceedings related to the rejection of nomination papers for the upcoming elections.

Similarly, the Tribunal has directed responses from the Election Commission, ROs, and others regarding appeals from PTI candidate Haleem Adil Sheikh from NA-238, PPP candidate Mirza Iktiar Baig from NA-241, and MQM candidate Sadaqat Iftikhar from NA-234. Additionally, an appeal from PTI candidate Arsalan Khalid from NA-241 has also been noted by the Tribunal.

Furthermore, the Tribunal has issued notices regarding appeals against the decisions of Returning Officers in response to nominations being rejected for PTI candidate Arsalan Khalid from NA-241. The Election Tribunals have given until January 5th for responses from the Election Commission and other concerned authorities.

These appeals stem from the candidates’ nominations being rejected in the general elections. In their pursuit of participating in the electoral process, the candidates have filed appeals challenging the decisions made by Returning Officers. The Election Tribunals, as part of their oversight and adjudication role, are actively engaging with the Election Commission and other relevant authorities to seek clarifications on these matters.

As the legal proceedings unfold, the Election Tribunals play a crucial role in ensuring a fair and transparent electoral process. The clarifications sought from the Election Commission, ROs, and AROs are integral to resolving these appeals and contributing to the integrity of the electoral system. The developments in these cases will have implications for the upcoming elections and the participation of these candidates in the democratic process.
