The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has revealed the names of its candidates for 10 out of 14 National Assembly seats in Lahore. The decision-making process for the remaining four constituencies, NA-117, NA-120, NA-119, and NA-121, is yet to be finalized. Maryam Nawaz has submitted nomination papers for NA-119 and NA-120, and there’s a likelihood that she will contest from NA-119. The other candidates for the 10 seats include Hamza Shehbaz from NA-118, Saad Rafique from NA-122, Shehbaz Sharif from NA-123, Rana Mubashir from NA-124, and Saif Khokhar from NA-125.
In addition, candidates for NA-126 to NA-130 have also been named, with Afsar Khokhar, Ata Tarar, Hafiz Nauman, Meher Ishaq, and Nawaz Sharif being the respective contenders.
A notable point is that Maryam Nawaz, who contested elections in NA-119, has reportedly not shown interest in contesting from any other constituency, and Ali Pervez Malik, former MNA from NA-117, might not be fielded in Lahore if he doesn’t contest from NA-117.
The party is awaiting seat adjustment decisions with the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) in Lahore, particularly in NA-119 and NA-117. The PML-N has not yet reached an agreement with the PPP for seat adjustments, and Ali Pervez Malik has also submitted nomination papers for both NA-119 and NA-117. If Ali Pervez Malik is adjusted in NA-117, no other constituency will be available for Ali Pervez Malik in Lahore.
The situation in NA-121, represented by Aiaz Sadiq and Rohail Asghar Madmood, has also created complexities. Aiaz Sadiq is hesitant about contesting from NA-120, citing its predominantly rural composition.
The party spokesperson, Maryam Aurangzeb, has emphasized that the list of PML-N candidates for the 10 National Assembly seats in Lahore is not officially confirmed. The party leadership is expected to make an official announcement regarding the final decisions.
