Under the leadership of Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa, the committee formed under the ‘Practice and Procedure Law’ in the Supreme Court has reached a decision that civil and military cases will be prioritized on a ‘first-come-first-serve’ basis.
The meeting, chaired by Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa, was convened to deliberate on the application of the Practice and Procedure Law.
During the session, it was decided that civil and military cases would be arranged based on the principle of ‘first-come-first-serve,’ ensuring a systematic and fair approach to case management.
Furthermore, the committee determined that after reviewing requests under Article 184(3), cases will be fixed in court. The next meeting of the Supreme Court committee is scheduled for January 4th, 2023.
According to the announcement, the committee has already decided on the constitution of benches in all registries from December 18th to December 29th. Bench proceedings for cases from December 18th to 22nd will take place in Islamabad, Quetta, and Karachi registries.
In the Islamabad registry, the bench will consist of Justice Sardar Tariq, Justice Mansoor Ali, and Justice Athar Minallah. The Quetta registry will host a bench with Justice Yahya Afridi and Justice Jamal Mandokhail, while the Karachi registry bench will include Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar, Justice Hassan Azhar Rizvi, and Justice Irfan Saadat Khan.
From December 26th to December 29th, Justice Sardar Tariq Masood will preside over chamber work. The Peshawar registry bench from December 26th to 29th will include Justice Aminuddin and Justice Masroor Hilali.
This strategic allocation of benches across registries aims to streamline case hearings and enhance the efficiency of the judicial process.
