Rocket Lab Targets december 13 for electron rocket’s 42nd mission: ‘The Moon God Awakens’

New Zealand’s Rocket Lab is gearing up for its 42nd mission, scheduled for December 13, launching the TSUKUYOMI-I satellite into orbit for the Institute for Q-shu Pioneers of Space (IQPS) in Japan. Named “The Moon God Awakens,” the Electron rocket will lift off from Rocket Lab’s Mahia complex in New Zealand at approximately 11:00 p.m. Eastern time (5:00 p.m. local time). Designed to capture high-resolution Earth images, the Electron is positioned as Rocket Lab’s counterpart to SpaceX’s Falcon 9. The live stream of the launch will be available on Rocket Lab’s website 30 minutes before liftoff. If successful, it will mark the company’s tenth launch this year.
