The Sindh government has decided to take legal action against former ministers, Members of Provincial Assembly (MPs), and officials who have not returned government vehicles, signaling a robust initiative to investigate the misuse of state-owned vehicles. To facilitate the inquiry, a committee has been established to search for government vehicles and scrutinize their unauthorized usage.
Chief Secretary Sindh, Dr. Fakhr Alam, has formed a five-member committee, led by Additional Secretary and DIG A, to conduct investigations into missing government vehicles and scrutinize records of vehicle purchases from 2007 to 2016. The committee will delve into the details of where these government vehicles were utilized and whether they were subjected to unauthorized usage.
The investigative committee is mandated to complete its probe within a stipulated timeframe and submit a comprehensive report. The Sindh government’s notification underscores the seriousness of the issue and its commitment to ensuring accountability and transparency in the use of government resources.
Despite earlier notices issued by the government requesting the return of these vehicles, certain individuals have failed to comply. Consequently, the Sindh government is now set to initiate legal proceedings against those who have not returned government vehicles within the specified period.
The move aligns with the government’s commitment to eradicate corruption and hold public officials accountable for the misuse of state resources. The decision to establish a dedicated committee reflects the government’s determination to thoroughly investigate the matter and take appropriate legal action against any wrongdoing.
This proactive stance by the Sindh government sends a strong message about its commitment to good governance and adherence to legal and ethical standards. The investigation and subsequent legal actions aim to bring transparency, accountability, and responsible use of public resources within the government’s purview.
