Caretaker government maintains petrol price, reduces diesel and kerosene rates.

The caretaker federal government in Pakistan has announced that the petrol price will remain unchanged at Rs281.34 per litre for the next two weeks. However, there have been adjustments in other fuel prices, with high-speed diesel (HSD) seeing a reduction of Rs7 per litre, kerosene oil decreasing by Rs3.82 per litre, and light diesel oil dropping by Rs4.52 per litre.

The finance ministry issued a notification outlining these changes. Notably, the government has maintained a zero general sales tax (GST) on all petroleum products, while the petroleum levy (PL) on petrol and diesel stands at Rs60 per litre.

This adjustment comes after a previous reduction on November 15, when the caretaker government lowered petrol and diesel prices by Rs2.04 and Rs6.47 per litre, respectively. The move aims to address economic considerations and ensure stability in fuel pricing during the caretaker government’s tenure.
