France has reported an outbreak of highly pathogenic bird flu on a turkey farm in the northwest, marking the country’s first farm case this autumn. Detected in the Brittany region near where an infected wild bird was found, the agriculture ministry has elevated the national alert level for bird flu from negligible to moderate. With several cases among wild birds recorded recently, the ministry announced measures such as confining poultry flocks in areas exposed to wild birds indoors. Bird flu, a seasonal concern in Europe, has prompted culling and disrupted poultry supply in various countries, leading France to launch a vaccination campaign in October, initially focusing on ducks.
