Gigi Hadid and Bella Hadid, renowned supermodels, known for their vocal support of the Palestinian cause, have become targets of harassment and death threats due to their criticism of the Israeli government’s actions amid the ongoing Israeli military offensive in Gaza.
Born to a Palestinian father, luxury real-estate developer Mohamed Hadid, the Hadid sisters have been actively advocating for the rights of Palestinians in the ongoing conflict.
Sources indicate that the Hadid family has taken security measures, such as changing their phone numbers, in response to the alarming number of death threats they have received.
In response to these threats, Mohamed Hadid is reportedly considering involving the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) to trace the individuals responsible for these menacing messages.
Gigi Hadid, in particular, has garnered significant attention for her pro-Palestine stance, which has led to criticism from some of her Israeli fans. Notably, she expressed condolences for the loss of lives, both Palestinian and Jewish, following a recent Hamas attack in Southern Israel on October 7.
“I have deep empathy and heartbreak for the Palestinian struggle and life under occupation; it’s a responsibility I hold daily,” said the 28-year-old model. She also emphasized that her hopes for Palestinians do not include harm to Jewish individuals.
The supermodel further condemned acts of terrorism, such as the one by Hamas, stressing that these actions risk mischaracterizing Palestinian resistance as anti-Semitic.
On her Instagram account, she shared a quote debunking the notion that criticizing the Israeli government equates to anti-Semitism, which read, “There is nothing Jewish about the Israeli government’s treatment of Palestinians. Condemning the Israeli government is not anti-Semitic, and supporting Palestinians is not supporting Hamas.”
