The Sialkot Stallions franchise of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) has officially been rebranded as the Multan Sultans.
The announcement was made during a press conference attended by PSL Chief Executive Officer Salman Naseer, the franchise’s new owner Gohar Shah, and new partner Hamza Majid.
Salman Naseer confirmed that the rebranding decision followed a formal request by Gohar Shah after acquiring ownership of the franchise. He explained that six potential names were considered before “Multan Sultans” was selected as the team’s new identity.
Naseer also revealed that the opening ceremony and the first match of the upcoming PSL season will be held in Lahore. He noted that preparations for the event are progressing rapidly, with excitement already building among cricket fans.
Gohar Shah, CEO of the newly rebranded Multan Sultans, expressed his enthusiasm about restoring Southern Punjab’s representation in the league. He stated that acquiring the franchise was driven by a desire to ensure the region gains visibility on the national cricket stage.
Shah added that a successful campaign would not only strengthen the franchise but also contribute positively to Pakistan’s national cricket development.
Meanwhile, franchise partner Hamza Majid welcomed the collaboration with Gohar Shah, emphasising that strong partnerships are key to achieving long-term objectives. With Shah’s passion for cricket and renewed vision for the team, the Multan Sultans are expected to enter the new PSL season with renewed ambition.
