A health expert has reassured diabetic patients by outlining a balanced and safe sehri diet during ARY News’ Shan-e-Ramadan transmission.

The expert recommended including a mixture of wheat with a small quantity of barley in the pre-dawn meal, as it can help maintain steady blood sugar levels. A sufficient portion of protein is also essential, with options such as eggs or chicken suggested to support sustained energy throughout the fast.

Healthy fats should also be part of the meal, alongside adequate water intake to prevent dehydration during fasting hours.

Diabetic patients were strongly advised to avoid oily, greasy, and heavily spiced foods at sehri. Sugary items should be strictly avoided. As a healthier alternative, the expert suggested using ground stevia leaves to naturally sweeten beverages.

The expert further emphasized the importance of consistent blood sugar monitoring during Ramadan. Patients were advised to check their glucose levels after sehri, before iftar, and again after breaking the fast to ensure stable health while observing the fast.
