Brazilian social media personality Bianca Dias has died at the age of 27 following complications linked to a recent plastic surgery procedure.
Dias reportedly suffered a pulmonary embolism while recovering at her family’s home near São Paulo. After experiencing sudden breathing difficulties, she was rushed to hospital, but doctors were unable to save her.
Medical complications during recovery
According to friend Giovanna Borges, who confirmed the news on Instagram, Dias experienced two seizures and developed a blood clot in her lung during her post-surgery recovery.
“Bia had surgery, and while recovering at home, she had a pulmonary clot [and] two seizures. By the time she arrived at the hospital, she was no longer alive,” Borges wrote.
The exact type of cosmetic procedure has not been publicly disclosed. Reports indicate Dias passed away 18 days after undergoing surgery.
Online presence and tributes
Dias had built a following of around 60,000 on Instagram, where she shared lifestyle and modeling content. Her final post, uploaded in December, featured a selfie taken inside a car in São Paulo.
Friends and followers have shared emotional tributes across social media. Massage therapist Jeff Carlos wrote, “Death is nothing at all. Our bond has not been broken,” while fellow content creator Patrícia Ganden expressed pride in their friendship and condolences to her family.
Investigation underway
Local authorities are reportedly investigating the circumstances surrounding her death, including the medical factors involved.
Her passing has reignited conversations in Brazil about cosmetic surgery safety and the risks associated with post-operative complications such as pulmonary embolism, a condition that can become fatal if not treated immediately.
