Actor Ryan Phillippe has shared rare and heartfelt comments about his relationship with the children he shares with ex-wife Reese Witherspoon.
In a recent interview, Phillippe praised their two children — Ava Phillippe, 26, and Deacon Phillippe, 22 — describing them as grounded and self-aware.
“My ex-wife and I are blessed with kids who have an incredible sense of self,” he said, adding that they are conscientious, academically driven, and make thoughtful decisions.
A changing father-son dynamic
The Cruel Intentions star admitted that while he enjoys nearly every stage of parenthood, the early teenage years were challenging. Now, however, he feels especially close to his son.
“My son feels like my best friend,” he shared. “Yes, I’m still a father, and he regards me as such, but we also have so many similar interests in music and comedy.”
Phillippe also expressed relief that his children are not heavily invested in social media, noting that having broader interests can help young people avoid some of the pressures associated with online culture.
Professional update
On the work front, Phillippe is promoting his upcoming two-part survival thriller, One Mile, set for digital release on February 20.
While he tends to keep family matters private, his latest comments offer a glimpse into a supportive co-parenting dynamic and a close-knit family bond that has evolved as his children have grown into adulthood.
