Salma Murad, the wife of the late veteran actor Waheed Murad, has passed away in Karachi. She had been ill for an extended period, and her death was attributed to natural causes. She is survived by her two children, daughter Alia Murad and son Adil Murad.
Announcing the sad news on Facebook, Adil Murad wrote: “With the heaviest heart and sorrow, we inform you that our beloved Mother, Mrs. Salma Murad, wife of the late Waheed Murad, has returned to her Creator this afternoon, October 13, 2023, in Karachi.”
Her funeral prayer will be held on Saturday at Sultan Masjid in the Defence Phase 4 area of Karachi after Asr prayer.
Sindh Governor Kamran Khan Tessori and individuals from various sectors expressed their condolences and sympathies to the bereaved family.
Salma Murad, known for her private nature, rarely gave interviews. In the few interviews she did provide, she spoke of her husband with great love and admiration, describing him as a wonderful husband and father, considering herself fortunate to have had him in her life.
Waheed Murad, an iconic figure in Pakistani cinema, passed away in 1983 at the age of 45. Salma Murad continued to lead a quiet life in Karachi until her own passing in 2023.
