The UAE Fatwa Council has announced the official values for Zakat Al Fitr, Fidyah and other Ramadan-related expiations (kaffarah) for 2026, based on a market price study conducted with the Ministry of Economy and Tourism.
Zakat Al Fitr (Fitrana) — the obligatory charity due before Eid prayers — has been set at 2.5 kilogrammes of rice per person, with a cash equivalent of Dh25. The Council noted that cash payment is permissible and may better support beneficiaries.
For those unable to fast, Fidyah has been fixed at feeding one poor person with 3.25kg of wheat or paying Dh20 per day. The same Dh20 benchmark applies to feeding cases, and the minimum value of an iftar meal has also been set at Dh20.
The Council determined Kaffarah for intentionally breaking a fast at Dh1,200, to be distributed among 60 needy individuals. Kaffarah for breaking an oath is set at Dh200, benefiting 10 people.
Meanwhile, Fidyah for prohibited acts during Hajj or Umrah has been fixed at Dh120, to be shared among six beneficiaries.
The Council reminded Muslims that Zakat Al Fitr must be paid before Eid prayers and encouraged the public to channel payments through approved organisations such as the Zakat Fund, the Emirates Red Crescent, and other recognised charitable bodies in the UAE.
