In a recent session held under the supervision of Prime Minister in Islamabad, the Federal Cabinet of Pakistan made significant decisions, shaping the country’s anti-corruption efforts and financial strategies. One of the pivotal announcements was the appointment of Sahil Naseer as the Deputy Chairman of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) and the designation of Ihtesham Qadir as the Prosecutor General of NAB.

Following the session, Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Fawad Hussain Fawad, addressed the press in Islamabad. He disclosed that substantial financial resources, approximately 50 crore rupees daily, were being allocated for the operation of a few aircraft, ensuring that the employees of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) would not face unemployment due to the airline’s restructuring. Fawad emphasized the government’s commitment to addressing the financial challenges faced by public institutions, specifically mentioning the persistent issues within PIA.

Moreover, the Cabinet also approved the appointment of a financial advisor to oversee the financial matters of PIA, aiming to bring about stability and efficiency within the national carrier. Additionally, the Cabinet reviewed the cases of two individuals, approving their transfer under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Interior.

Fawad Hussain Fawad reiterated the government’s zero-tolerance policy towards corruption, emphasizing that he had consistently raised concerns about the irregularities within NAB. He highlighted the significant losses incurred by such government institutions due to corruption and pledged to rectify the situation. As the designated authority, he affirmed his dedication to ensuring that even the smallest losses are prevented through efficient management and oversight.

The appointments and decisions made during this session underscored the government’s proactive approach in addressing corruption and financial mismanagement within public institutions. The allocation of resources for essential operations like those of PIA demonstrated a balanced approach, safeguarding both the interests of employees and the national carrier’s financial sustainability. As the government moves forward with these measures, the focus remains on creating accountable, transparent, and efficient public institutions, fostering a stronger and more stable economic environment for Pakistan.
