On the directive of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, Safe City has introduced a specialised counselling service to assist individuals experiencing mental distress.
The facility is available through the Punjab Emergency Helpline 15. People facing stress, hopelessness, or suicidal thoughts can dial 15 and press 7 to be connected for support.
Under this initiative, Safe City ensures immediate contact between callers and trained psychologists. Through conference calls, affected individuals receive instant counselling from qualified and specialised mental health professionals.
A Safe City spokesperson stated that timely psychological intervention through the helpline is playing a crucial role in saving precious lives.
In 2025 alone, the helpline received 2,327 calls related to mental distress and suicidal tendencies. Out of these, 2,269 callers were provided prompt counselling and support, helping prevent potential suicides.
Officials report a 98 per cent success rate for the counselling service offered via Emergency Helpline 15. Data further shows that 56 per cent of the calls were made by men, while 44 per cent were from women, highlighting the broad reach and impact of the initiative.
