FBR orders strict enforcement of 10pc women’s quota, intensifies action against tax evaders

The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has issued formal directives for the strict implementation of the 10 per cent women’s quota across all its field formations, declaring the matter a top priority.

According to official instructions, all customs collectorates and directorates have been directed to immediately submit detailed information regarding compliance with the women’s quota. The FBR has warned that no negligence or delay will be tolerated and has set January 16 as the deadline for submission of the required data.

The information collected will be shared with the Establishment Division, officials said, adding that the move is part of broader efforts to strengthen women’s representation in government employment. The FBR has also sought immediate reports from customs and intelligence formations to assess the current level of compliance, with strict monitoring mechanisms already in place.

Meanwhile, FBR Chairman Rashid Langrial said that a robust nationwide crackdown against tax evaders is being carried out on a daily basis.

Speaking informally to the media in Islamabad, he said action is underway against individuals involved in tax evasion and smuggling across the country. He disclosed that notices have already been issued to 30 individuals found to be under-reporting their income.

Langrial added that complete data has been obtained for individuals who failed to file tax returns or submitted incorrect returns, and further action will be taken in accordance with the law.
