Cold Wave Persists in Punjab as Rain System to Bypass Lahore.

A rain-bearing weather system is set to enter Pakistan from the west on Thursday, but it is unlikely to bring relief to the plains of Punjab, including Lahore, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has said.

According to the Met Office, severe cold conditions accompanied by dense fog continue to affect Lahore and several other parts of Punjab. Intermittent cloud cover and brief sunny intervals are further intensifying the chill across the province.

Weather officials explained that the approaching system will mainly impact northern hilly areas such as Murree and the Galiyat, where light to moderate rainfall is expected. In contrast, Lahore and other plain regions are forecast to remain dry over the next 24 hours.

On Wednesday, the minimum temperature in Lahore dropped to 3.6 degrees Celsius, while the maximum temperature is expected to hover around 14 degrees Celsius. Similar cold and dry weather is predicted for most plain districts of Punjab, with dense fog likely during late-night and early-morning hours.

The Met Office has urged residents, particularly commuters, to remain cautious as foggy conditions may significantly reduce visibility. Motorists using motorways and highways have also been advised to follow safety precautions to avoid accidents.
