Singer and actor Prashant Tamang, who rose to national prominence after winning the third season of Indian Idol, passed away on Sunday at his residence in New Delhi. He was 43 years old.

According to media reports, Tamang was found unresponsive at his home earlier in the day. While the exact cause of death has not yet been officially confirmed, preliminary information suggests a suspected cardiac arrest. Authorities are currently awaiting medical verification.

Tamang had recently returned to New Delhi after performing at a live concert in Arunachal Pradesh. There were no known health issues reported prior to his death, making the news particularly shocking for his fans and members of the entertainment industry.

Born on January 4, 1983, in Darjeeling, Prashant Tamang faced early hardship after losing his father at a young age. He later joined the Kolkata Police as a constable, where he continued nurturing his passion for music by performing with the police orchestra.

His life took a dramatic turn in 2007 when he won Indian Idol Season 3, earning widespread popularity across India and Nepal. Following his victory, he released his debut album Dhanyavad under Sony BMG, which featured songs in both Hindi and Nepali.

Tamang went on to perform at concerts around the world, including in the United States. Expanding his creative journey, he also sang for Nepali films such as Himmat 2 and later transitioned into acting. His film credits include Gorkha Paltan, Angalo Yo Maya Ko, and Nishani.

In addition to films, Tamang appeared on television, making a cameo in Amber Dhara and later featuring in Paatal Lok 2. His sudden passing marks a significant loss to the music and film fraternity, with tributes pouring in from fans and colleagues alike.
