Nick Reiner to Enter Plea in Parents’ Murder Case This Week.

Nick Reiner is scheduled to appear in Los Angeles Superior Court on Wednesday to enter a plea in connection with the deaths of his parents, Rob Reiner and Michele Singer Reiner.

The arraignment comes roughly three and a half weeks after the tragic discovery of the couple, who were found stabbed to death in their Brentwood home. Rob Reiner, a beloved actor and director, and Michele Singer Reiner had been married for 36 years.

Nick Reiner, 32, the youngest of the couple’s four children, was arrested shortly after the bodies were found and has remained in custody without bail. Two days following his arrest, he was formally charged with two counts of first-degree murder. During his initial court appearance on December 17, he did not enter a plea while wearing shackles and a suicide prevention smock.

Attorney Alan Jackson has not disclosed any details regarding the defense strategy. At this stage, most defendants typically plead not guilty, though Jackson could request a postponement before a plea is formally entered.

If Nick Reiner pleads not guilty, the case would usually proceed to a preliminary hearing to determine if there is sufficient evidence for a trial. Additionally, questions about his mental competency to stand trial may play a role as the proceedings move forward.
