A hunter from Russia has legally hunted a Kashmiri Markhore in Chitral Gol National Park, an area known for its wildlife.
The Wildlife Department said the hunter paid $68,000 for the hunting permit. The hunt was done under the Community-Based Trophy Hunting Program.
The Markhor’s horns measured 41 inches. Officials confirmed that the animal cannot be taken out of the country because it was hunted under a non-exportable quota.
The money from the permit will be used to support local communities and help protect wildlife by reducing illegal hunting.
