Nvidia completes $5 billion investment in intel shares

Nvidia has completed the purchase of Intel shares worth $5 billion, the U.S. semiconductor company said in a regulatory filing on Monday, finalizing a deal first announced in September.

Under the agreement, the leading AI chipmaker agreed to pay $23.28 per share for Intel common stock, a move widely seen as a significant financial boost for Intel after years of strategic setbacks and heavy spending on expanding manufacturing capacity strained its finances.

According to the filing, Nvidia acquired more than 214.7 million Intel shares through a private placement at the agreed price.

The investment had already received regulatory approval, with U.S. antitrust authorities clearing the transaction earlier this month, according to a notice from the Federal Trade Commission.

In early market activity, Nvidia shares were down 1.3% in premarket trading, while Intel’s stock remained largely unchanged.
