A spectacular drone show in Las Vegas marked a major moment for Netflix’s award-winning series Stranger Things, with the streaming giant declaring that the city had “officially entered the Upside Down.”
The Hawkins-inspired display took place along the Las Vegas Strip on Sunday, featuring 5,000 drones in what Netflix described as the largest drone show ever staged in the United States. The illuminated night sky brought iconic moments from the series to life, drawing hundreds of fans to the event.
According to Netflix, the coordinated drones formed images inspired by key characters, scenes, and props from the show, including the WSQK van, the group riding bicycles through Hawkins, and Will’s confrontation with the Demogorgons. The event also featured an appearance by Vecna, portrayed by Jamie Campbell Bower.
“Before the finale, we’ve got one final thing for you,” Campbell Bower told the crowd. “We’d like you to divert your eyes to the sky.”
Titled One Last Adventure: Las Vegas, the show was the final stop in a global promotional tour for the concluding season of Stranger Things. Netflix said similar celebrations were held worldwide, including interactive installations in Madrid and an immersive Hawkins National Laboratory experience in Sydney.
The finale episode, The Rightside Up, is set to release on Wednesday, December 31, at 8 pm ET and 5 pm PT. The first seven episodes of season five are already available to stream on Netflix.
In addition to streaming, the finale will be screened in more than 500 cinemas on December 31 and January 1. Tickets can be purchased through the official season five finale website, with prices varying by location.
