The National Cybercrimes Investigation Authority (NCCIA) has warned the public about a rise in fraud attempts linked to New Year celebrations. The NCCIA advises people to stay cautious and avoid clicking on suspicious links or sharing their WhatsApp code with anyone.
Fraudulent messages, often claiming to be New Year greetings or gift offers, are circulating through links on WhatsApp. These links may lead to malicious app files or malware that can compromise your phone’s security.
IT experts warn that clicking on these links can result in hackers gaining access to personal data, such as photos, contacts, and even bank account information.
The NCCIA urges everyone to be cautious and not let the excitement of the season make them vulnerable to fraud.
