Under-19 cricket team will kick off their tri-nation series campaign against Afghanistan on Monday in Harare. The tournament, which also features hosts Zimbabwe, began earlier, but its opening fixture was abandoned due to persistent rain.
The Pakistan squad, led by captain Farhan Yousaf, arrived in Harare late Sunday after a long journey. Entering the tournament as reigning Under-19 Asia Cup champions, they will be looking to build momentum ahead of the upcoming ICC Under-19 World Cup.
The series got off to a delayed start as the first match between Afghanistan and Zimbabwe was repeatedly interrupted by rain and eventually ended without a result. Weather conditions are expected to continue playing a significant role, and teams will be hoping for clearer skies in the remaining fixtures.
Pakistan’s Under-19 team enters the series on a high note, having recently thrashed India by 191 runs to claim the Asia Cup. The tri-nation series will run until January 6, after which the team will shift focus to the ICC Under-19 World Cup, jointly hosted by Zimbabwe and Namibia.
