Apple TV+ renews sci-Fi drama pluribus for season 2

Apple TV+ has confirmed a second season renewal for its breakout sci-fi drama Pluribus, continuing the series after a strong debut on the streaming platform.

The renewal comes as no surprise: Season 2 was already in early development before the show’s premiere, and since launching in early November, Pluribus has quickly become one of Apple TV+’s most-watched original titles.

About the Series

Starring Rhea Seehorn, Karolina Wydra, and Carlos-Manuel Vesga, Pluribus is set in a world gripped by a mysterious force that induces artificial happiness. Seehorn plays Carol Sturka, one of the few people immune to the phenomenon, who sets out to uncover the truth behind it before society collapses.

Creator’s Vision

Series creator Vince Gilligan said he has a clearer long-term plan for Pluribus than he did with Breaking Bad or Better Call Saul. While the writers have mapped out a general roadmap, Gilligan suggested the story is not intended to run indefinitely, floating three seasons as a likely arc—though he remains open to expansion if the narrative calls for it.

What’s Next

Seehorn has said she hopes Season 2 will further explore Carol’s inner contradictions, describing the character as a reluctant, deeply human hero whose flaws ground the show’s high-concept sci-fi premise.

According to production sources:

  • Filming is expected to begin: Spring 2026
  • Estimated release window: Late 2027 or early 2028
  • Budget: About $15 million per episode, putting a nine-episode season at roughly $135 million

With its early success and ambitious scope, Pluribus is shaping up to be one of Apple TV+’s flagship sci-fi franchises.
